PICTURES FROM THE BAHRAIN EXHIBIT

Writer: Rachel PearseyRachel Pearsey

Finally some pictures from the exhibit in Bahrain!

It was a wonderful experience to paint alongside Bahraini artists and to partner with an Art Society that has such a commitment to peaceful dialogue, interaction between faiths, and celebration of what we share in common! The theme of this annual Christmas exhibit centered around the coming of Jesus as described in the Bible and the Quran.

The Arabic and English words in the layers of the collage part of my painting are prophecies from God’s Holy Word about the coming of Jesus:

“He is a light to reveal God to the nations” and “The sunrise from on high will visit us, to shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace”.

Over the collage, I painted the hands of Jesus, holding the water of life and light - offered freely to all.

Over the fabric and stitched world, I painted the hands of all nations, young and old, yearning and reaching up to receive the water from the hands of Jesus.

The title is: Light To All Nations

President of the Al Hussaini Society for Islamic Art, A. Nabi Al Hamar, does an amazing job of bringing together artists, fostering peaceful dialogue, and encouraging new artists in the community!
