This past Friday I had the opportunity to be the guest artist at Reidy Creek School’s annual FAVE Student Art Festival. It was an honor to display my paintings and to do demonstrations at such a wonderful festival! FAVE stands for Fine Art Volunteer Educators, and I say, “Job Well Done!” to all who volunteered to make this a reality! As an art teacher, I was so impressed with their program and the way they are encouraging children in the arts!
They used the following quote by Pablo Picasso, which I think is SO true! :
“ Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up”
It was a lot of work to set up my display for just one evening, but SO worth it to be able to share my paintings with the children and families at the school! I had wonderful helpers, without whom I would not have been able to pull it off. And I used my display walls, which I built for events like this. I designed them to fit perfectly into my good ol’ Volvo wagon - I bought this car specifically to use for hauling art, and it certainly has been put to use over the past 7 years!
